Where It Started
Every tennis player knows the feeling — your grip slips or your hand placement is off, and you mishit a shot because the racket was too open or too closed. In tennis, your grip makes all the difference. The wrong grip can mess up your game, but the right grip, consistently and confidently used, is key to leveling-up.
Based on our own experience, we know how hard it is to change a grip. We spent many months trying. For example, once you’re in the habit of an Eastern grip, your body will very much resist the shift to a semi-western grip. Even though you may start out a hitting session, drill, or match intent on using your new, ‘better’ grip, soon enough you will find that you unconsciously shifted back to the old grip. Many players will also find that they use their forehand grip instead of a continental grip on their serves, volleys, slices, or overheads. Again, changing this habit is hard and normally requires many months of disciplined practice.
We know what it’s like, we went through this.
Then we started working on a solution.
